Vitreoretinal Simulation Course

Hands-on surgical simulation course focused on core vitreoretinal surgical techniques.

Designed to support the development of surgical control in vitreoretinal procedures through a structured, stepwise simulation approach.

Activities are conducted in a controlled wet-lab environment with a strong focus on instrument handling, surgical orientation, and intraoperative workflow.

Participants engage in key steps of vitreoretinal surgery through repeated hands-on practice, developing precision, coordination, and procedural confidence.

Course Aims

This course provides participants the opportunity to engage with core vitreoretinal surgical steps in a controlled simulation setting. By the end of the course, participants will have:

  • Practiced vitrectomy system setup and instrument preparation in a simulated environment.
  • Engaged with core vitrectomy maneuvers under microscopic guidance on ex vivo ocular tissue.
  • Practiced peripheral vitreous removal exercises with controlled instrument positioning in a wet-lab setting.
  • Worked through a fluid–air exchange maneuver on a simulated posterior segment.
  • Explored key intraoperative landmarks and orientation cues during the simulated vitrectomy workflow.

What You Will Practice
