Surgical Simulation in Ophthalmology
Cataract Simulation Course
Hands-on surgical simulation course focused on core cataract surgery techniques in ophthalmology.
This course is designed to support the development of surgical control in cataract surgery through a structured, stepwise simulation approach.
Activities are conducted in a controlled wet-lab environment with a strong focus on instrument handling, surgical orientation, and intraoperative workflow.
Participants engage key steps of cataract surgery through repeated hands-on practice, developing precision, coordination, and procedural confidence.
Course Aims
This course provides participants the opportunity to engage with core cataract surgical steps in a controlled simulation setting. By the end of the course, participants will have:
- Practiced operating microscope positioning and surgical field preparation in a simulated environment.
- Worked on incision construction and anterior chamber control on an artificial eye model.
- Engaged with continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis on simulated capsular tissue.
- Practiced basic phacoemulsification principles in a controlled wet-lab setting.
- Explored cortical cleanup and intraocular lens implantation on simulated material.
